Race Tips for Run Galway Bay

As It’s coming up to the end of your training, we at Galway City Chiropractic would like to give you some top tips for your race day.

We will be there after your run, providing post-run care. If you would like to avail of our services at our clinic in Galway City Chiropractic why not book a Complimentary Consultation (Quote: Run Galway Bay) before or after the run. We are available to treat and offer advice so that you perform at your best on the day.

Have a plan

Plan out how you are going to approach the run from the warm up to the cool down and of course the run itself.

Pace Yourself

From running as a Junior both Nationally and Internationally, I learned the hard way. I sometimes went out like a hero and paid for it half way through as my pace gradually decreased throughout the run, so make sure to adopt a steady pace that you are comfortable to continue with if not increase.

Stay hydrated

Building up to the run over the next weeks it is important to keep hydrated, be assured that there will be water stations throughout the race, it is important that you hydrate, particularly in the build up to the event. Check that you are staying hydrated by monitoring your urine, clear indicates that you are hydrated.

Listen to your Body

Your body will let you know when something is wrong, we all tend to avoid listening to our bodies at times.  Gentle stretching with ice packing, should alleviate any minor aches or pains after 48-72 hours of the issue occurring. If the complaint persists I would advise that you visit a trained professional who can help you deal with these issues, such as a registered Chiropractor with the Chiropractic Association of Ireland.

Good luck and we will see you at the Finish Line.
