Race Packs

There is no number pickup this year. All numbers will be sent by post during the week before the event.

We will not post any numbers to incomplete addresses so if for any reason you do not receive your number by Friday 27th September, email us and we will have a replacement ready for you at the start area information desk.

We can’t include safety pins in the pack this year as the An Post franking machine could not process the envelope with pins included. We will have safety pins at the start area for anyone who needs them.

Bag Drop

There will be no Bag Drop this year. Please arrive just before your start time ready to run.

Pacers

Following a review with our Health & Safety Team we have decided not to have pacing groups at this year’s event as they attract big numbers of people running in close proximity to each other and the course is too narrow at parts.

Water Stations

10K: There will be a water station at mile 3 and at the finish
Half Marathon: There will be a water station at mile 1, 4, 7, 10 and at the finish
Full Marathon: There will be a water station at mile 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23 and at the finish.

We are actively trying to eliminate waste this year and are introducing refill stations along the course. We are encouraging everyone to carry a 500ml bottle of water on the course and refilling as needed at the station. We will also have water in paper cups and are committed to fully recycling all cups and bottles after the event.

GETTING HERE

We encourage our racers to arrive at the race village on foot or via public transport where possible.

Getting To Galway
  • By Bus: Galway is served by multiple bus companies from all around the country. The main bus station (Bus Éireann) is located just off Eyre Square and is connected to Ceannt Train Station.
The Coach Station (GoBus, CityLink) is on Fairgreen Rd, also nearby Eyre Square.
  • By Train: If you’re travelling to Galway by train on the day, you’ll arrive into Ceannt Station. This is located about one mile from the start line. Find out more about trains to Galway from IrishRail.ie.
  • By Car: Parking throughout Galway is metered. There are several multi-story and pay & display car parks around town if you need to bring the car. The closest to the start line is at Jury’s Inn Hotel and on Merchant’s Road. There will be parking restrictions in place along the route, and the course will be closed to traffic from 8:00am.
Getting Around Galway
  • By City Bus: CityDirect and Bus Éireann both operate within the city. Both offer services that will drop you nearby the start area. We are only a 15 minute walk from Eyre Square.
  • Taxis: Taxi ranks are located on Eyre Sq, Bridge St and near the train and bus stations. Galway taxis can also be hired through the FREENOW app or booked through taxi offices such as Abbey Cabs or Galway Taxis.
  • Bicycle: Coca-Cola Zero® Bikes are available for hire throughout Galway City. They provide a healthy and convenient means of transport, ideal for supporters who want to cycle the course.

Your safety is our top priority. Please help us in this regard by obeying the instructions of the Race Marshals, Gardaí and Medical staff at all times on the route. Please do not wear headphones for everybody’s safety. Water stations and toilets will be available.
