The organisers would like to thank Galway City Council once again for tremendous support. Each year a detailed traffic management plan is reviewed and adjusted to ensure the event causes minimum disruption to residents and motorists while, at the same time, allowing participants to have a great time on a safe course. The results of this planning has been extremely successful for all involved, but we will continue to make improvements as changes occur. The opening of the newly surfaced stretch of pathway along the back of Galway Golf Club in 2014 and 2015 proved to be a highlight for most participants. So, subject to approval from City Hall we’ll be enjoying traffic free roads again this October.
Road Closure Detail:
In 2016 the westbound lane from Grattan road to the Barna Road will be closed to traffic from 8:00am until 2:30pm.
NOTE: The road closure did not affect access to any homes or business premises along the route as it is only the westbound road which will be closed to traffic. A detailed Traffic Management Plan will once again be submitted to Galway City Council and minimum disruption is expected. The organisers would also like to thank the Garda Siochana for their assistance in the planning of the event.
