Galway Bay Heroes – Sergiu Ciobanu’s Olympic Goal

31

He may have been born in Moldovia but Sergiu Ciobanu is running in the Berlin Marathon today with high hopes to qualify to represent Ireland in the Olympics in Rio next year. Sergiu will need to complete the Marathon in 2.17 to qualify – his personal best is 2.17.27. Sergiu has won the Galway Bay Half half marathon four years in a row and will hopefully go for 5 in a row next weekend.

The Galway Bay team will be cheering on Sergiu and the other Irish competitors – Sean Hehir, Mick Clohisey, Mark Hanrahan Paul Pollock, Gary Thornthon and Tomas Fitzpatrick who are all looking for Olympic qualifying times in Berlin today.
